Quarto Publishing Group USA (formerly Quayside Publishing Group) encompasses Cool Springs Press, Creative Publishing international, Fair Winds Press, Motorbooks, Quarry Books, Quiver, Race Point Publishing, Rock Point Gift and Stationery, Rockport Publishers, Voyageur Press, Walter Foster Publishing, Walter Foster Jr., and Zenith Press, as well as the distribution service QDS. The broad range of imprints has come together through both acquisition and creative new launches.

Book Sales, Inc, was acquired in 1993, and has been in the business of publishing and supplying books to wholesalers, mail order companies, and retail stores for more than 50 years. Its imprints include Chartwell Books, Wellfleet Press, Castle Books, Knickerbocker Press, Alva Press, and Blue & Grey—all publishing high-quality illustrated books or reprints. Categories include novels, cookbooks, history, juvenile, fine art, art instruction, how-to craft books, natural history, gardening, civil war, militaria and more.

For more than 85 years, Walter Foster Publishing has been providing art instructional books and activity kits to artists of all ages and abilities. It was acquired by Quarto in 1996.

Rockport Publishers, founded in 1984, was acquired in 1990. This esteemed publisher of high-quality illustrated source books for professional designers and artists presents the best design work from around the world.

In 2001, Rockport Publishers launched Fair Winds Press to publish quality illustrated trade paperbacks by top authorities in the fields of nutrition, general health, parenting, and fitness.

Fair Winds includes Quiver, a boutique imprint that first offered books and kits in the fall of 2006 for couples who want to take their sex lives to the next level.

Quarry Books, launched in 2004, provides practical reference for enthusiasts in many categories, including crafts, food, pet care, and hobbies.

Creative Publishing international was acquired in 2004, a worldwide leader of visually stunning how-to books on topics including home improvement, home decorating, sewing and crafting, and outdoors. For more than 20 years, CPi has developed illustrated, step-by-step books branded with nationally recognized names like Black & Decker and Singer.

In 2007, The Group acquired MBI Publishing Company, including the Motorbooks, Voyageur Press, and Zenith Press imprints.

Motorbooks, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015, is the world's leading transportation publisher.

Voyageur Press publishes subjects ranging from music to crafts, American heritage, country lifestyle, horses, railroads, and more.

Zenith Press publishes both illustrated and narrative books on subject matters including military history, aviation and space, current events and world politics.

In addition to the publication of its own titles, MBI distributes titles for specialist publishers from around the world. This distribution business—QDS—represents more than two dozen client publishers. Quarto Publishing Group USA also distributes the imprints of its sister company, Quarto Publishing Group UK: Jacqui Small, Frances Lincoln, and Aurum.

Cool Springs Press, the leading publisher of state and local gardening information in the United States was acquired in 2011. In addition to gardening, Cool Springs Press publishes books and creates products on birding, cooking, canning and preserving, and in 2013 it took over the home improvement line of titles formerly published under the Creative Publishing international flag.

Race Point Publishing, which is dedicated to producing high-quality illustrated books in a variety of subjects, was formed in 2012. As a general interest publisher of illustrated books, it strives to deliver authoritative content in a beautiful package.

In addition, Quarto Publishing Group USA launched a gift program in 2014, under the imprint Rock Point Gift and Stationery, and a Children’s Publishing program under the imprint Walter Foster, Jr.

The new Rock Point Gift and Stationery imprint includes journals, guided journals, kits, calendars, cards and stationery, and has launched this year with nearly 100 new products. The program offers innovative gifts for stylish, passionate and creative lives: an inspired, artistic, and innovative range that will appeal to a market of inventive and creative enthusiasts across a range of subject areas. The high-quality gift line complements and expands the successful and much-loved illustrated book program.

The exciting new Children’s Publishing imprint, Walter Foster Jr., is planning to bring the same illustrated quality of our enthusiast subject areas to Children’s Publishing, in subjects ranging from arts and crafts to gardening to trucks and automobiles.
