Oncology

In line with the new integrated medical curricula, Oncology takes a systems-based approach covering conditions that are clinically relevant to the experiences of the medical student. The book is highly illustrated in four colour and includes summary boxes, bullet lists, case histories, further reading, and similar features to ensure an easy-to-use, accessible learning and revision aid.

The principles and practice of oncology are divided into two sections, the first sectÍon focus ing on the general principles of cancer, including chapters on aetiology, epidemiology, biology, and pathology of cancer. Other chapters include cancer prevention, staging and psychology and the principles of cancer surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and palliative care. Section two provides information on each bf the common cancers grouped into specialties. When each cancer is discussed the aetiology, presentation, signs on examination, investigation, and management are outlined.
